A ten-pin bowling group was suggested just before Covid and a series of lockdowns, which prevented the group from starting up. Once restrictions were eased, I was able to launch the group in July 2021 when 12 members enjoyed the first session. We now have 30 people who have registered for the group and there is scope to welcome more people regardless of ability.

We initially had one session on the fourth Friday of each month but a second session has been added on the second Wednesday of each month. Members are welcome to go to one or both sessions as they wish.

We meet about 15 minutes before the session starts in order to pay and change shoes. The venue is Madison Heights and we have obtained very favourable rates for u3a members. We play 3-5 games for a charge of £9, which includes shoe hire and tea/coffee plus a biscuit.

This is a very friendly group with an emphasis on having fun rather than being involved in a competitive league. I mix up the teams for every session so everyone can play with a variety of people with different abilities.
