Limebrook Maldon

Signpost

A New Venture for Limebrook u3a members which has grown out of the new social group idea. This idea is to ‘signpost’ events that other members are  attending so you can join them to     enjoy something in the knowledge that there will be at least 1 friendly face there as well. Just send me the details and I will advertise it here and in the monthly briefing which I will be sending out to those who have signed up for the social group. Now that Spring is fast approaching, it would be great to advertise some spring/summer excursions. So if you have any ideas contact me.

These are NOT u3a events, will not be organised by us and normal u3a insurance will NOT apply

We are just faciliating a group of friendly people getting  together to enjoy themselves.

‘Signposts’ is  intended primarily to work with single events but if it grows into  a more regular meetup it could become a group (as with ‘Meals around the world’ which we had a few years ago)

SAVE THE DATE! SALTMARSH COAST WALKING FESTIVAL 2024

The Maldon District Tourism Group, working with a wide range of partners including the Ramblers, is proud to announce this year’s Saltmarsh Coast Walking Festival, which will run from Friday 27th September to Sunday 6th October 2024.

Selected as one of the “Observer” newspaper’s ten best British walking festivals for 2024, this year’s theme is “Wood and Water”.  There will be over 25 guided walks around the Maldon District’s spectacular coastline, woodland and inland villages, designed to appeal to all ages and levels of ability.

All guided walks are free, but there is a limit to the number of walkers who can be accommodated on each walk. So, if you see a walk you fancy, please book a place. To book, please go to https://www.saltmarshcoastwalkingfestival.co.uk/

However, if you’d prefer to explore the area at your own pace, there are also plenty of self-guided walks available to download from the website.

From a hike around the renowned Tollesbury Old Hall Marshes nature reserve with an expert guide from the RSPB, to a walk along the Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation with the return leg on a canal trip boat, there will be plenty of unique experiences for you to enjoy during the ten days of the Festival.  There will be several walks in the programme which have been designed and led by the Maldon & Dengie Ramblers.

And the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down.  We are lining up a programme of evening entertainment, which will include fascinating talks from local experts on a wide range of topics  and other events.

You can find out more information on the Saltmarsh Coast Walking Festival (and find details of self-guided walks in the District you can try now) by visiting

    https://www.visitmaldondistrict.co.uk/walkingfestival.
